Polishing
The different coating options will be discussed fully with you during the quotation process.
Note: The drying times mentioned below are only an approximation. Variables in weather conditions (ie temperature, humidity etc) can have a major impact on the time needed for drying and curing depending on the coating products used.
If a water base polyurethane is used, it will require 12-13 hours between coats.
The curing time for this type of coating is 3 days. You can walk on it (in socks only, not barefoot) after curing but cannot put furniture back for another 2 days.
If a solvent based polyurethane is used, it will require 24 hours hours between coats.
The curing time for solvent based coating is 3-5 days. You can walk on it (in socks only, not barefoot) after curing but cannot put furniture back for another 2 days. Also, it takes about 4 days for the vapours to fully dissipate.
Warning: Solvent based polyurethane vapours can be a problem for pregnant women and people with allergies or breathing problems. It is recommended that you vacate the house for approx 2-4 days after the final coat.
